Nick Gova


Nick is an expert in all areas of family law. He is often referred to as a “rising star” in his field, having an impressive track-record of representing professionals through to high net worth individuals.

Nick is a trailblazer in complex financial matters within the context of a divorce and instruction involving international elements, businesses, pensions, tax and liquidity issues. Nick is regularly instructed on Schedule 1 Children Act proceedings, involving financial provision for a child when parties are not married.

Nick advises and represents clients in relation to children matters concerning contact disputes, obtaining contact orders, progressing contact, as well as seeking the appropriate directions to prevent contact. He has experience in dealing with cases involving leave to remove a child from the jurisdiction and relocation cases, within England and internationally.

Preparation of pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements for the prevention of future disputes is a habitual task for Nick. He is also instructed to prepare Cohabitation Agreements.

Nick is experienced in Trust of Land Claims, where there is a dispute over the ownership of a property. He is well versed in the Civil Procedure Rules and uses this tactically to provide robust and efficient advice and achieve results. Nick’s specialism in dealing with overseas and religious marriages places him uniquely within the market with expertise in Islamic Marriage (Nikah) and Divorce (Talaq).

Nick also typically deals with injunction proceedings including freezing of assets, non-molestation and occupation orders.

Nick has been described as a “formidable force” in matters at the Family Court, Magistrates Court and High Court. Nick will personally undertake the advocacy in Court for our clients where appropriate or he will instruct a Barrister with the most relevant expertise and ability to defy the odds and deliver a result for our client.

Nick is recognised as a tenacious negotiator by his professional peers, often resulting in a settlement being achieved without the need for contested proceedings. Nick is popular with clients for his meticulous preparation and in-depth knowledge coupled with his empathetic and patient approach to family proceedings.
