Deed of release

A legal document recording an agreement relating to the release of a property owner’s rights of light, usually in return for a payment of compensation.

A deed of release is usually prepared after negotiations over the value of the rights of light being surrendered have been concluded.

Deeds of release need to be carefully drafted, executed and registered and a specialist rights of light solicitor should therefore be consulted to ensure that the deed of release is valid.

Child & Child specialise in the negotiation, preparation, execution and registration of deeds of release relating to rights of light and have a number of rights of light solicitors who can assist you with all rights of light related matters.
