James joined Child & Child in 2002. He has experience in a number of practice areas including employment, personal injury and commercial disputes and with a focus on property related disputes and associated litigation.
James deals with a range of commercial and residential property issues including:
- landlord and tenant including disrepair and nuisance claims;
- party wall and boundary disputes;
- rights of light;
- injunction applications;
- business tenancies including lease renewal, surrender and forfeiture;
- contractual disputes;
- rights of way and adverse possession;
- easements and restrictive covenants;
- planning appeals and objections;
- service charge disputes;
- leasehold enfranchisement and extension proceedings in the LVT;
- right to manage/appointment of manager applications for leaseholders;
- Inheritance Act claims and contested probate.
James has wide experience of proceedings in the various courts and tribunals, including numerous reported cases in the Court of Appeal. He also regularly deals with alternative forms of dispute resolution such as mediation and arbitration where appropriate to meet the client's needs without recourse to formal litigation.
